All for Books!

One of our book fair goals is to ensure as many children as possible have access to and receive books. One of the ways we can do that is through Scholastic’s All for Books program. With your help, donations will purchase books for our Reading at Home Program.

How it Works:
• Fill an envelope or plastic baggie with spare change or a donation in any amount.
• Return it to your teacher with the signed treasure chest donation slip (attached to the flyer that came home)
• Your donation is used to buy books for students at Apollo
• Your donation is matched by Scholastic to buy books for children in need.

Reflections Art Contest 2016-2017: "What is Your Story?"

The Reflections Program is a National PTA and Washington State PTA cultural arts competition. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works.

Each year, Reflections challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. A student may submit an entry in any of the following six art categories.

Your child doesn’t have to be a protégé of Monet, Gene Kelly or Steven Spielberg to participate… Reflections is for everyone!

Shop on Amazon?  Use Amazon Smile and benefit our children!
If you shop at Amazon, please visit smile.amazon.com, or click on the button in the left tool bar.  Make sure you add Apollo Elementary PTA (city listed is Tacoma) as your charity of choice.  Then, 0.5% of every qualifying Amazon purchase will be donated to our PTA, to benefit programs for our children!  Let’s take advantage of this easy way to raise money.

Does your company offer a corporate match program for nonprofit organizations?

Matching gifts are typically overlooked.   In 2012, The Chronicle of Philanthropy released a report entitled "How America's Biggest Companies Give." Two of the top 5 matching companies are right here in our community: Boeing and Microsoft. In fact, 65% of Microsoft employees request matching company contributions from their employer. Does your company have a matching gift program? If so, now is a great time to submit your Apollo PTA donations for matching.

Did you know that many employers will match your time, too? Apollo PTA has received over $7500 in contributions from our school family documenting and submitting their volunteer hours to their employer for matching this school year alone! What a great way to give back to our school AND have your employer support your child’s school.
