Apollo PTA Science Fair - Thank you Volunteers!

Thank you for another fantastic Apollo PTA Science Fair! We had 206 projects by 230 Junior Scientists - that's a HUGE fair. We hope you enjoyed all of the hands-on stations and demos. We've already started to think about stations for next year...  

The Committee Chairs, Kimberly Nocco & Khanh Soliven, would like to thank and recognize the planning committee & volunteers for making the program a success: Maricel Paulino, Christi Schumann, Ben & Tricia Mathis, Sara Ceder, Kristi Hammond, Gregg Schuler, Christie Loe-Malone, Jodi & Rob Ackerman, Natasha & Wes Vorley, Danielle Dixon, Jenine Hoff, Ernest Burns, Regeana Rupard, Lance Heine, Larry Soliven,  Marco Nocco, Apollo Green Team and Apollo Coding Club, Mr. Barone, Mrs. Wolfe, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Waskom and Guest Exhibitors Liberty DECA, and the Apollo students who helped clean-up & sort boards. Calling All Photographers! It's time to submit your photos for the yearbook!

Enter in the access code XFBQBJ and click get started. Provide your name, email address and a password. Once registered, you will receive an email with an activation link. Click the link to activate your account. Once activated you can log in with your email address and the password you have created.

UPLOAD to Category: Choose from one of the pre-defined categories the yearbook staff set up. It only holds 72 photos at a time, till I move them into the website. If it is full please send me a quick email and I'll get it correct and then try again. If you need to provide a CD or USB drive, please put in the PTA box, marked with your child's name and teacher. I will return them.

Sound System Parent Needed!

Please consider helping out with the sound system in this spring. We need a sound person. Due to time restraints it is not possible for the music teacher to get everything set up before rehearsals for the grade level concerts.

Apollo Concert Dates 
3rd Grade: Pioneer Program, Thursday, April 28th
2nd Grade: Thursday, May 12th 
1st Grade: Tuesday, May 17th
4th Grade Pacific Rim Concert: Thursday, June 2nd


All concerts are at 7:00p.m. All rehearsals are the day of the concert at 1:50p.m. until the end of the day, with the exception of the 5th grade rehearsal, which is an assembly in the morning at 8:45a.m. We need someone to help set up the sound system, starting at 1:00p.m. the day of the concerts and help take it down after the program.

Fitness Bingo!
 
The Apollo PTA is celebrating fitness this month! To encourage students to reach their daily goal of 60 minutes of exercise, we have created a Fitness Bingo game for students to play at home. Students need to complete 20 activities during the month of April and turn in their Bingo sheet by May 2 for a prize.
 
All students received a Fitness Bingo sheet from their teacher. You can download another copy HERE.

Apollo Kindergarten Play Date

Do you have a Kindergartner starting at Apollo this Fall? It is an exciting time, though full of unknowns for both parents and students. As Apollo PTA Parents, we are here to answer your questions while your Kindergartener gets to know their new peers!

Please join us for our summer play date series called KinderConnect. It is the ideal opportunity to obtain vital information and contacts before the first day of school and also allows your child to socialize with other kids their age. We will schedule at least two play dates, dates and times will be announced in the coming months. You are encouraged to participate in either or both--come and go, just drop by or stay and play!

Math at Home (MAH) & Reading at Home (RAH)

Students can start earning free books and math prizes by logging their minutes on apollopta.org. See program instructions and details HERE.  

New this year...students do not need to be logged into their parent's account to input minutes (as long as their parents have set up their account) and/or students can keep a paper calendar and parents can input the *total sum* of minutes just once each month!

Does your company offer a corporate match program for nonprofit organizations?

Matching gifts are typically overlooked.   In 2012, The Chronicle of Philanthropy released a report entitled "How America's Biggest Companies Give." Two of the top 5 matching companies are right here in our community: Boeing and Microsoft. In fact, 65% of Microsoft employees request matching company contributions from their employer. Does your company have a matching gift program? If so, now is a great time to submit your Apollo PTA donations for matching.

Did you know that many employers will match your time, too? Apollo PTA has received over $7500 in contributions from our school family documenting and submitting their volunteer hours to their employer for matching this school year alone! What a great way to give back to our school AND have your employer support your child’s school.
