MATH IN ACTION is a free Math Enrichment program offered to all Apollo students by the Ellipsis Academy throughout the academic year.

Math in Action challenges our students beyond their daily math work by pushing kids to their maximum potential as well as encouraging them to develop out of box thinking, strategy and problem solving skills.

The program provides 15 sets of challenges throughout the school year; each set is published every other week starting in late September or early October and ending in May. These math challenges cover problem solving strategies such as draw a picture or model, make an organized list, look for a pattern, working backward, and guess and check. Each challenge presents 10 to 18 problems ordered by level of difficulties which enables students from various grades to participate.

More information about the Math in Action program could be learnt here:

 How to Participate

PTA will hand out an PARTICIPATION FORM form early September. You can also download it HERE. All students from K to grade 5 are welcomed to participate at the Math In Action Challenge program as long as their parents fill the PARTICIPATION FORM and return to us before 9/15

This year, Apollo PTA got permission from Ellipsis Academy, and converted the process to online challenges. Each Math Challenge will be available on Each participating student can register/login to the website and start the challenge when it’s available online.

After the student has submitted the current challenge online, we will score each challenge. Normally, there’s a week between the challenge’s available date and due date.

(Please note, all though Apollo PTA has converted the challenge to an online version, the original copy right still belongs to Ellipsis Academy.)

Prized for Participating students will be handed out three times a year on 12/8/17, 3/2/18, and 6/8/18. Student prizes will be based on:

  • Kindergarten: as long as the student participates and returns the worksheet, he/she will get a prize.
  • 1st Grade: students with 3+ correct answers will get a prize
  • 2nd – 3rd Grade: students with 5+ correct answers will get a prize
  • 4th – 5th Grade: students with 8+ correct answers will get a prize

The end of year (in June), we will pick top 3 kids with the highest number of correct answers in each grade and give out a yearly prize.
