MATH IN ACTION is a free Math Enrichment program offered to all Apollo students by the Ellipsis Academy throughout the academic year.

Math in Action challenges our students beyond their daily math work by pushing kids to their maximum potential as well as encouraging them to develop out of box thinking, strategy and problem solving skills. 

The program provides 15 sets of challenges throughout the school year; each set is published every other week starting in late September or early October and ending in May. These math challenges cover problem solving strategies such as draw a picture or model, make an organized list, look for a pattern, working backward, and guess and check. Each challenge presents 10 to 18 problems ordered by level of difficulties which enables students from various grades to participate.

 How to Participate

PTA will ask parent to fill and turn in an ONLINE PARTICIPATION FORM early September. You can also download a paper copy and turn it in HERE. All students from K to grade 5 are welcomed to participate at the Math In Action Challenge program as long as their parents fill the PARTICIPATION FORM and return to us before 9/20/2020 (Sunday)

Same as last year, all the challenges need to be submitted online for scoring. Each Math Challenge will be available to submit answers on Each participating student can register/login to the website and start the challenge when it's available online.

After the student has submitted the current challenge online, we will score them. Normally, there's a week between the challenge's available date and date date.
(Please Note: the paper copy for the math challenge will be available to print out either at or when you login to the online system. However, please submit your answer to the online system, we do not accept paper copies for scoring.)





Prized for Participating students will be handed out three times a year on 12/20/2019, 3/20/2020, 6/12/2020. Student prizes will be based on:

  • Kindergarten: as long as the student participates and returns the worksheet, he/she will get a prize.
  • 1st Grade: students with 3+ correct answers will get a prize
  • 2nd – 3rd Grade: students with 5+ correct answers will get a prize
  • 4th – 5th Grade: students with 8+ correct answers will get a prize

At the end of school year (in June), we will pick the top 4-5 kids with the highest number of correct answers in each grade and give out a yearly prize.
